Two-bedroom apartments in Guadalajara for a family of five

If you want two bedrooms in Guadalajara for a family or a group of five, start with four of ours: 2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium, Deluxe Double Apartment with Patio - 110, Double Deluxe Apartment with Terrace - 415 and, if there are six of you, Modern Apartment in Chapultepec - 401. They are all two-bedroom furnished apartments in Guadalajara, all listed for five guests or more, and the differences between them are the part worth reading about.
We manage forty-five places in this city. The two-bedroom ones cluster into two very different kinds of building, and which one suits you has almost nothing to do with the photographs.
The real split: Chapultepec towers versus the Mexicaltzingo lofts
One group sits in and around Chapultepec, the corridor everyone means when they say Guadalajara's restaurant-and-bar belt. Modern Apartment in Chapultepec - 401, Contemporary Apartment in the Heart of Chapultepec and Lujo y ubicación en Chapultepec 67 belong to a building with a Skybar on top, which is the detail guests actually use: you end the day up there with the city spread out rather than hunting for a bar with a view.
The other group is the Bitloft family, lofts a few blocks from the historic centre in Mexicaltzingo, a neighbourhood of colonial architecture, temples, parks and its own local market, where you can eat typical food, buy fresh produce and pick up handmade souvenirs. The building has high-speed wifi, a coworking area and a gym. Numbers 110, 415, 414, 403, 410, 102, 105 and 114 all live here. If you want Guadalajara's nieves de garrafa, the handmade fruit sorbet the city is known for, this is the right half of the map.
Then there's 2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium, which sits on its own: a modern loft steps from Las 9 Esquinas and the Museo Puente de las Damas, with a gym, a coworking area, a rooftop terrace with panoramic city views, and an assigned underground parking space in the building.
The one that handles five guests best
2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium publishes exactly how its five beds work, which is rarer than it should be. There's a queen in the main bedroom, a trundle set in the second (one single pulls out from under the other, so two guests), and a sofa in the living room that sleeps one, though it isn't a sofa bed. Read that before you book. If your fifth person is a teenager who will happily take the couch, you're fine. If your fifth is an adult who needs a proper mattress, you want a different apartment, and knowing that now saves an argument at ten at night.
Two other things about it decide bookings. Air conditioning is in the main bedroom only, which matters in the warm months if you have kids sleeping in the second room. And the parking space is assigned underground, with access managed through the Kigo app, so download it before you arrive rather than in the ramp with a car behind you.
If you're travelling with a baby, book 110
Deluxe Double Apartment with Patio - 110 keeps a high chair. It's the only thing on this page that will change a trip outright, and it is listed for this unit specifically. The apartment also has a patio, blackout curtains in a city that gets bright early, and a full working kitchen: oven, stove, fridge, freezer, microwave, blender, toaster, baking sheet. Five guests, two bathrooms, two bedrooms.
It has had more guests through it than anything else in this group, with over a hundred reviews on file, which is its own kind of information. A unit that has been lived in that many times has had its problems found.
Working from the apartment
Three of these have a dedicated workspace listed in the unit, not just downstairs: 2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium, 110 and Double Deluxe Apartment with Terrace - 415. That distinction is worth caring about. A coworking floor is excellent at eleven in the morning and useless at nine at night when the kids are asleep in the other room and you have a call.
415 is the one I'd point a working parent toward: air conditioning, a desk, two bathrooms, five guests, an iron and ironing board if you're here for meetings rather than agave. It's also well reviewed, with forty-odd guests on record and a rating in the low nines.
When there are six of you
Modern Apartment in Chapultepec - 401 is listed for six across four beds and two bedrooms, with the Skybar upstairs and parking in the building, paid rather than free. The catch is one bathroom. Six people and one shower is a real constraint on a morning when everyone wants to leave at the same time, and it's the reason I'd ask how early your group gets going before recommending it. It's our best-rated two-bedroom in this set, so people clearly forgive it.
Double Deluxe Apartment with Terrace - 414 also takes six, across four beds and two bathrooms, and it's the largest of these by floor area by a wide margin. It's the sparest of the group on paper: no air conditioning listed, no kitchen listed in the unit's own inventory, so if cooking dinner at the apartment is the point of the trip, book 110 instead. Its reviews sit lower than the others here and I'd rather tell you that than let you find it. Take it for the space, in the cooler months, if your group's plan is to be out all day.

How arrival works, and the bit people get wrong
Check-in is entirely self-service at 2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium, and it requires an online registration before you reach the building: basic details, a selfie, and a photo of an official ID, run through a short security check. Codes release at three in the afternoon for a four o'clock check-in. Do the registration from the airport, not from the lobby, because the verification takes a few minutes and the deadline is half past ten at night. Arriving after two in the morning? Tell us before 10:30pm so we can issue a fresh code, because the original expires if it hasn't been used.
There is no front desk at these buildings. Support is remote, by message, from nine in the morning to eleven at night on weekdays and from ten on weekends. Check-out is ten in the morning, and a later one can be requested before nine on the day, if the cleaning schedule allows.
Longer stays, dogs, and the fees nobody mentions until later
Every apartment here allows long-term stays, and all of them attach a weekly cleaning charge once you pass seven nights: $420 MXN a week in the Mexicaltzingo lofts, $400 MXN a week in the Chapultepec building, and $450 MXN plus tax per seven nights at 2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium, where it's booked by request rather than automatically. Mid-stay cleaning and linen changes aren't included otherwise.
Dogs under 15 kg are welcome, with conditions that vary by building. The lofts and the Chapultepec apartments apply a refundable $1,000 MXN deposit when you stay with a pet. At 2 Recámaras y Terraza en Zona Premium it's $210 MXN per pet per night, one pet maximum, and the dog can't be left alone in the apartment. Check the policy on the unit you're actually booking.
Two more practical notes. The lofts and the Chapultepec units take a damage deposit at entry, either a one-off $160.50 MXN payment or a $1,500 MXN hold released at the end of the stay. And linens are set by the guest count on the booking, so if a fifth person joins late, update the reservation even if the price doesn't change.
What to do with the apartment as a base
From the Mexicaltzingo lofts you're a few blocks from the historic centre, and the neighbourhood market is the thing to do first: fresh produce, typical cooking, crafts. Tlaquepaque is the obvious half-day, twenty to thirty minutes out depending on traffic, built around Calle Independencia and El Parián, galleries and restored colonial streets. Tonalá sits another ten minutes beyond it and is where people from Guadalajara actually buy ceramics and home goods, at prices that reflect the lack of tourists.
For a morning outdoors, Bosque Los Colomos is on the northwestern edge of the city at Calle El Chaco 3200 in Zapopan, open from six in the morning until eight at night. It has paved running loops of three and five kilometres, ponds with koi and waterfowl, and a Japanese garden with stone paths and wooden bridges that works well with children who have had enough of churches. Zapopan itself is home to the Basílica and the Virgin of Zapopan, a pilgrimage site, and Tlaquepaque is near the Jalisco Stadium if there's a match on.
Tequila is the day trip people plan their whole week around. Budget about an hour to an hour and a half each way by car on the 15D toll road, longer with traffic. Tequila Plus buses run every half hour to an hour from the old downtown terminal and take an hour and a half to two hours, and the José Cuervo Express makes a four-hour scenic run with tastings on board.
